The Duchess of Cambridge has featured in a short animated film about mental health, urging Britons to pay attention to both “small feelings” and “big feelings.”
The video comes as part of a charity campaign led by the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, entitled You’re Never Too Young to Talk Mental Health.
Kate Middleton appears at the very beginning of the film – which is likely to soon be shown in schools across the UK – providing an introduction to viewers and inviting them to “talk about mental health” at an early age.
“Mental health is how we feel and think,” she says.
“[It’s] things that can’t really be seen but that affect us every day, and talking about them can feel difficult.”
The Duchess then invites viewers to think about “what to say, and who to talk to when we have feelings that are too big to manage on our own, and how to listen and help if one of our friends is finding things difficult.
“Sometimes, it’s just a simple conversation that can make things better,” she says.
